Playlist - Autumn Greys
I am
currently going through a phase and have been listening to some soul stirring
numbers, the kinda numbers that touch you, that sympathize with you, that
soothe you, that relate to you, that stroke you, that to a point even slightly
brush you off at the edges, that sometimes remind you of your mistake, which
even laugh at you sadistically. I rightfully named this playlist “Autumn Greys”
as the phase I’m going through is much like Autumn, all gloomy and grey !
I am
not going to list all the songs from the playlist, but at least those which
were major commercial hits.
v 12. Jar of Hearts – Christina Perri
v 12. Jar of Hearts – Christina Perri
I
so totally love the line which goes “…your gonna catch a cold…from the Ice
inside your soul” goes on to say how emotionally unavailable men are, as
always. I wouldn’t mind getting all hurt and heartbroken had it been someone of
the Greek god status, like Enrique Iglesias, but hell …Who do you think You
Are??
v
11.
Wrecking Ball – Miley Cyrus
I’m
personally not a big fan of this twerking superstar but I don’t want to be too
judgmental about it for even she would have gone through a phase and thus sung
such a beautiful song. One would think that such things happen to young love,
but then that’s not at all true. We want to be loved regardless of our age and
every time something fails, we plunge deeper into the relationship hoping it
would be a raving success this time around, only to figure out that we have
fallen much deeper into the pit instead, much like a wrecking ball !!
v 10.Trouble – Taylor Swift
Where do I start about this one, it’s just such an apt song, such befitting lyrics ! This situation mostly happens (as per me) during your rebounds. All you want to do is get over that stupid guy you invested 4 precious years in, and only to figure he cheated on you with that scantily clad office colleague of his ! You are so consumed by anger, you just want a quick rebound and you think it’s going to soothe all of your heartburns. You thus end up going to random parties, and the minute that hunk of a guy meets your eye, you have fallen for him. You don’t want to know anything about him, weather he is engaged or married or has kids the size of an Australian cricket team, nothing matters to you. The passion burns bright, and you prepare yourself to trust him blindly and do anything and everything to please him, only to find out everything falling apart by the end of the month. Yes ! It never lasts more than a month…Trouble..Trouble..Trouble..!
v 9.Careless Whispers – George Michael
Wow ! is an understatement of the century. The minute the saxophone plays, you have submitted yourself head to toe to this song.” I’m never gonna dance again..the way I dance with uuu…” and you suddenly realize that the whole world is a crappity crap place to be in and the only place you want to exist at the moment is his arms, which of course is never going to happen ever again , and you cry relentlessly, self-blaming for all that happened, for all that went wrong, for even his mistakes, and you set the song on repeat mode for what goes on to an hour !
v 8.Addicted – Enrique Iglesias
This follows suit with the rebound situation. You think the only way you can get rid of that jerk is mindless physical involvement with the hunky-dory from the party. It happens, and it happens again, and again and you think you have hit Gold. You even begin to invest your emotions into this hunk, making it more soul-to-soul connect, and the rest of the day when you don’t see him or your trying to pass that long journey to work, you play this song, and miss him all the more!
v 7.Grenade – Bruno Mars
You have fallen for the wrong person, every Tom/Dick/Harry and Jack/Jill/Jane knows about it, even you know about it, but every time you see that person your memory freezes in time and you think you have found your Numero Uno , only to get more hurt!
v 6.Someone like you – Adele
You know this guy is pushing you towards Doomsday, but how silly of you that you still hope and cry that you end up finding someone exactly like him, may be same name, maybe he looks alike, maybe he smells the same…
v 5.Somebody I used to know – Gotye
Oh this song was a hands down crowd pleaser, not only were the lyrics of such depth, the video was a mass rage too ! “…now your just somebody that I used to know…” and the blame-game continues..
v 4.Mirrors – Justin Timberlake
Ok, let me make it clear, I absolutely don’t like this guy for a very primitive reason, he dumped Britney Speres !! How could he, that morawn ! This song is 8mins long, I mean who writes such a long song?? Wouldn’t you rather write two 4mins song and have two individual hits instead. That’s what I would do if I were him, but I don’t really know how the logic for him works, regardless, I figured that even though I have so much pent-up hatred for him, this particular song was quite decent, ok may be more than decent. I have a thing for people growing old and still loving that one person from the past and things like that, so yeah, this song, I like !
v 3.With or Without You - U2
The guitar strums, you close your eyes and your mind drifts back with a rush of memories. Like Yin-Yang, good memories followed by the bad ones. The sweet nothings whispered, the laughter you shared, those little pecks on your eyelids, you remember every single detail and Bono's haunting voice continues "...I can't live...With or Without you..."
v 2.Last Christmas – Wham and George Michael
And we are back to G.Michael again ! All of us, okay most of us hate to be alone during Christmas, and more often than not we always want to be with that someone special, atleast just for the sake of the holiday season, only to realize that’s exactly how long the relationship would last in reality! And then we cry and cry and cry all the more with this song playing as a backdrop ! Whyy God Whyy Me?
v 1. The Scientist – Coldplay
I thought this song deserved to be right on top of my playlist. It’s a very sincere song of a guy apologizing to his lady love. I have always and still consider men to be such cold hearted and so emotionally unavailable, but when I hear this song my heart goes out to that guy when he sings “…Nobody said it was easy…It’s such a shame for us to part…Oh take me back to the start…” There’s so much innocence in every word of his, and I completely lose myself while its playing !
So, this was my playlist, I really hope it will be helpful for the broken hearts in finding the perfect Gloom song !
P.S : I haven’t been on the receiving end of all the above mentioned scenarios but I reckon they just go so well with their respective songs ;)
