Wildest Dreams
For all those who follow current trends in music, you are
absolutely right! The title of this post has been inspired by Taylor Swift’s
latest song Wildest Dreams from her album 1989. Being a fellow Sagittarian
myself, not only do I follow all of Swift’s music, but always end up relating
to it! This is not the fan girl in me talking but seriously, every time Swift releases
a new song, I’m totally convinced she peeked recently into my life!
Coming to this particular song, Swift has come a long way in
portraying her emotions in her videos. This song like most of her previous
songs, aren’t about how she madly fell in love with a guy, how she let her guard
down, invested all of her into it, convinced herself he was The One, her
happily Ever-After only to be walked out on. This song is much more mature in
that sense. When she sings
“ … Say you’ll remember me, standing in a nice dress…starring at the Sunset babe…Red lips and rosy cheeks... say you’ll see me again... Even if it’s just in your…Wildest Dreams…”
And I’m left thinking to myself Wow! How grown up is that! I remember reading somewhere " If it's not Alcohol then please fix me with some pain to keep me going". Similarly, Swift is addicted to pain, it's a way of survival for her and she makes sure she remains in the same status quo every single time. Even
this time, she inadvertently, as always picks the wrong guy . But the
difference is, this time around she knows this won’t last and she’s made peace
with it. She is OK of whatever little she gets from this guy because someone of
course spilled their pearls of wisdom on Carpe Diem.
All of us collectively spend so much time in what may or may
not happen and we tend to forget all those beautiful little things that are
happening in front of us, right now. Yes, I will have to think about the future
when it comes to getting myself a life insurance, when it comes to taking care
of my parents who after a while won’t be able to look after themselves. But why do we always take granted that today’s
happiness will last forever? A friend of mine updated his status as “Liberosis”
(kind of funny how it sounds similar to my favorite word “Lobotomy”). When I questioned
him he was in this carefree laid back glee status of mind and gave me a little
lecture about how we just need to let go, let go of all that’s holding us back,
weighing us down.
