Weekend Getaway - Yercaud Hill Station
I have suffered from insomnia ever since I started working in odd shifts. It usually reaches it's peak especially if I've to wake up super early for a trip the next morning. I would lay up all night trying to figure if I have packed everything I need, if I have taken some extra set of clothes in case my main set of clothes decide to flip on me, if I have all the outfits ready for different occasions of the trip and the biggest fear being the alarm stabbing me in the back and not waking me up! (Some trust issues huh!)
Please do not mistake these occasions to be actual events because they aren't. Let me give you a quick summary of the occasions I am talking about and I'm sure most women would agree with me.
* An outfit to wear during the travel/commute
* An outfit to change into after reaching the place of stay
* An extra outfit if it's a water place
* An outfit to lounge in once you get back to your place of stay
* An outfit to sleep in (your jammies)
And repeat the whole process for the next number of days :D
Since I am a lite packer, at least I like to believe so; I find it extremely tricky to incorporate all the above mentioned outfits and still pack a breezy luggage.
This time, I remained true to my packing style. I carried 2 bottoms and piled on extra light weight tops to change into whenever needed. The proudest moment this time was being able to fit all of my luggage into my overnight bag.
Stopped for some authentic filter coffee enroute :) |
After being on the road for about 5hours from Bangalore, we finally reached the place of stay. Yercaud is a tiny hill station in Tamil Nadu. This time around we did not have much on our itinerary except for eat, drink, chat to our hearts content, sleep and repeat the entire cycle.
The biggest reason we kept our vacation so effortless had to do with our place of stay. We stayed at the best resort in Yercaud called The Regent Hill Top and it's popular for good enough reasons. The entire place is single handedly planned by its owner Vishu. The amount of hard work and creativity that has gone into creating this place is mind-blowing. What makes it all the more special is the fact that Vishu had numerous exciting stories to share and each one was more hilarious and astounding than the other. His hospitality was the icing on the cake and we couldn't have had a better time.
As per the itinerary we spent all our time just doing what we had previously decided i.e; eating, drinking, chatting away, grabbing a power nap now and then. The owner was kind enough to help us set up karaoke. One thing I realized "Karaoke + Bonfire + Hill Station" is a magic potion for a wonderfully memorable trip. To add to the mix was great company! I was lucky enough to get some good clicks at the picturesque resort. This weekend getaway definitely raised the bar for all the future trips to be :)
Hope to visit this place many more times in the future!!
Hugs & Cheers,
S
